South Africa’s Three Tree Hill Lodge shines a Little Sun

June 2016

Located in South Africa’s Drakensberg Mountains, the eco-friendly Three Tree Hill Lodge offers a beautiful environment with a strong commitment to sustainability and Fair Trade Tourism (FTT).

Environmentally conscious, Three Trees uses ‘energy-saving light bulbs throughout the lodge, insulate our walls and ceilings and purchase appliances and equipment with energy saving in mind.’ Little Sun solar lamps would seem to be the perfect fit then, and indeed, Three Trees has been selling Little Suns in their gift shop for about two years.

Additionally every guest room is equipped with a Little Sun lamp, and guests find them very useful when traveling between the lodges buildings at night.

An FTT business, the lodge employs staff from the local community and gives them job skills and personal development training. Adhering to the FTT standard means that Three Trees is concerned with ‘fair wages and working conditions, fair purchasing and operations, equitable distribution of benefits and respect for human rights, culture and the environment.’

Little Sun is proud to have such a socially conscious business selling Little Suns in South Africa.
